Why is Speyside special for whisky?
As mentioned above, Speyside has 51 distilleries producing whisky around the River Spey. This is the greatest concentration of malt whisky distilleries in Scotland.
Located in the North East of Scotland in the Moray area between Aberdeen and Inverness, Speyside has an eclectic mix of historic castles, villages and old steadings. It is a beautiful area of Scotland and is ideal for producing whisky.
Some of the biggest Scotch whisky producers in the world reside on Speyside. The distilleries on Speyside include:

Scotland as the historical home of whisky
Scotland has been producing whisky in one form or another since the 15th century. The history of whisky is traced back to Lindores Abbey on Tayside, where you can now find a modern distillery that opened in 2017.
Speyside has become the focal point of many of the success stories in the whisky industry. In earlier years, whisky production was illegal and stills had to be hidden by the government. The Macallan is one brand with a long storied history on Speyside dating back to the 19th century.
Now, whisky production is a legitimate business, in fact, it brings over £4.5 billion into the Scottish economy.
If you want to become part of the history of whisky then investing in a whisky cask is an excellent option.
