A Night of Auction Records

The One of One whisky charity auction was not just an ordinary event; it was a night where auction records tumbled like falling dominoes.

A total of nineteen auction records were achieved across various lots, showcasing the extraordinary demand for these exceptional whiskies.

Some examples of a record-breaking event include:

  • Brora’s Brilliance (Lot 5): The Brora Iris 50-Year Old 1972, the oldest Brora single malt ever bottled and presented in a 1.5-litre decanter, set a new record by selling for an astonishing £400,000.
  • Bowmore’s Triumph (Lot 22): The star of the night was the Bowmore STAC 55 Years Old, the oldest whisky ever released by the distillery. It fetched a staggering £562,500, leading to an intense bidding battle among collectors who eagerly sought this highly prized single malt.
  • Glen Grant’s Legacy (Lot 32): The Visionary, one of the oldest whiskies to be released by the Glen Grant Distillery, more than doubled its high estimate, selling for £212,500 and establishing a new record for a bottle of The Glen Grant at auction.
  • The Glenturret’s Endurance (Lot 13): The Glenturret Enduring Spirit, featuring four Lalique crystal decanters, each containing liquid to celebrate a century of The Glenturret’s existence, tripled its estimate to bring in £125,000—a remarkable achievement for this historic distillery.
  • Gordon & MacPhail’s Showcase (Lot 34): The Gordon & MacPhail Recollection Showcase, featuring five uniquely engraved Glencairn decanters, each containing an extremely rare one-off 70cl single malt from a distillery that has been lost or silent for decades, brought in £93,750.
  • Old Pulteney’s Elegance (Lot 11): Old Pulteney Bow Wave 45 Year Old, the oldest expression ever released from Old Pulteney Distillery, more than doubled its pre-sale high estimate, selling for £68,750.

The Distillers’ Charity Youth Action Fund

Beyond the thrill of setting auction records, the One of One whisky charity event had a deeper purpose.

A proportion of the proceeds from the hammer, up to £1.8 million, will primarily benefit The Distillers’ Charity’s Youth Action Fund. This fund is dedicated to transforming the lives of young people in Scotland by helping them develop knowledge, confidence, resilience, and skills, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
