Highland Park releases the 54-Year-Old Single Malt Whisky to mark its 225th anniversary
Highland Park has released their oldest single malt whisky expression to date with the 54-year-old.
The 54-year-old marks the 225th anniversary of Highland Park, with only 225 bottles of whisky available at £39,000.
As with the number of bottles, the age signifies a quarter of the Orkney whisky brand. The housing is designed to represent the cliffs of Yesnaby in Orkney and the base represents the mash tuns in the distillery.
Included in the price is an invite to Orkney for a special experience at the Kirkwall distillery.
A limited edition Highland Park whisky
Highland Park takes pride in placing the history and landscape of Orkney in the heart of their distillery in Kirkwall. That can be seen in the 54-Year-Old limited edition.

Crafted by Master Whisky Maker, Gordon Motion, the first casking occurred back in 1968. Then in 2008, Gordon Motion selected 10 refill casks.
These 10 casks were transferred into first-filled sherry-seasoned casks, specifically selected by Gordon for their character. The whisky was nurtured and matured carefully for 14 years until they achieved the remarkable tasting notes in the 54-Year-Old.
Tasting notes of the 54-Year-Old single malt
The carefully crafted tasting notes were developed from a total of 10 casks back in 2008. Gordon Motion selected four refill sherry butts and six refill hogshead casks.
A further 14 years maturing in first-filled sherry casks have given the 54-Year Old a deep, rich colour and intensity of flavour.
The tasting notes include:
- Nose: Lychees, aromatic camphor, vintage oak, delicate peat smoke
- Palate: Warm spices of crushed cumin and coriander seeds, rose, jasmine, kiwi fruit, pistachio biscotti
- Finish: Sweet and spicy, woody notes, fenugreek, heathery peat smoke
Whether the Highland Park 54-Year-old is for your collection or for savouring it truly is an experience worth participating in.
