Glasgow Distillery Celebrates a Decade with Limited 10-Year-Old Single Malt Release

To mark a significant milestone in its whisky-making journey, The Glasgow Distillery has unveiled its oldest and most exclusive expression to date: the Glasgow 1770 10-Year-Old Single Malt. This release not only commemorates the distillery’s 10th anniversary but also highlights a decade of craft, innovation, and community spirit.

A Decade in the Making

Founded in 2012 and located on Deanside Road, The Glasgow Distillery laid its first cask in 2015. Ten years on, it has grown into one of Scotland’s most respected independent distilleries. To honor this journey, the team bottled their 10th cask—filled exactly ten years ago—on 24 March 2025.

The result is a limited-edition whisky that embodies the distillery’s core values and craftsmanship.

Glasgow 1770 10-Year-Old: A Rare Expression

This 10-year-old single malt is a special release in more ways than one. Matured in a single refill Bourbon barrel, it offers a pure and honest look at the distillery’s spirit, untouched by secondary maturation or finishing casks.

  • Style: Unpeated single malt
  • ABV: 54%
  • Number of bottles: Just 230
  • Price: £69 (US$90)
  • Availability: One bottle per person, exclusively for Glasgow Distillery Community members

Tasting Notes

Described as a vibrant and fruity whisky, Glasgow 1770 10-Year-Old boasts a complex profile that reflects its slow, patient ageing. Expect layers of:

  • Pear tart Tatin
  • Heather honey
  • Green apples
  • Lemon zest
  • Melon and pineapple
  • Warm hints of cinnamon

This carefully crafted profile underscores The Glasgow Distillery’s reputation for producing expressive and characterful whiskies.

A Toast to the Community

Mike Hayward, co-founder of The Glasgow Distillery, expressed pride in the release:

“We’re incredibly proud to present this milestone bottling as we mark a decade of whisky making. Releasing our oldest expression exclusively to The Glasgow Distillery Community recognises all the support and encouragement we have received from our supporters who have followed us throughout our journey to date.”

“For our first 10-year-old release, we wanted to offer our followers a look at our decade-old whisky without too much influence from finishing casks or secondary maturation. This whisky is a true demonstration of the wonderfully fruity and vibrant character of the whisky we make.”

Exclusive Launch Details

The Glasgow 1770 10-Year-Old will be available via the distillery’s website at 10am on Tuesday, 15 April 2025. With only 230 bottles available, and each customer limited to one, this is a release that’s expected to sell out quickly.
