The 2022 National Whisky Festival will be in Glasgow in May
Tickets for the National Festival of Scotland are now available to purchase, with the annual event set to return to Glasgow on May 7.
Founded in 2015, the festival is dedicated to celebrating whisky and the spirit’s deep connection with the history and fabric of Scotland. In their own words, the event aims to provide “a dynamic cultural experience built on whisky, discovery and diversity. From seasoned experts to curious newcomers, everyone is invited to celebrate whisky’s strong traditions whilst unveiling the exciting new styles of tomorrow.”

Same Event, New Date
The National Whisky Festival will be held at the iconic SWG3 venue in Glasgow’s West End. The event was previously organised for January 2022 but was postponed due to the COVID restrictions introduced by Nicola Sturgeon last month. The original tickets, however, remain valid for the new date.
The announcement of a new date for the festival follows Sturgeon’s announcement that these restrictions are now set to be eased. After a significant fall in new case numbers, the Scottish government is allowing nightclubs to re-open, large indoor events to resume, and various social distancing rules to be dropped. These changes will take effect from 24 January.
Organisers of the 2022 National Whisky Festival stated: “We are incredibly excited to finally be heading back to Glasgow, the festival’s spiritual home. Our return to live events in Aberdeen and Edinburgh last year was a reminder that collaboration and celebration with those around us are vitally important to what we do and we are excited to once again be walking back into the dynamic world of physical whisky events.”
They added: “Glasgow is our flagship event too and remains our most popular to date. So, after a patient wait, we are thrilled to finally be able to show you all what we have in store when the festival returns in May.”
The Festival Programme
There will be over 200 whiskies available to sample at the event from some of the most popular names in the industry, including Black Bottle, Chocolate Tree, Deanston, Eden Mill FIODH, Jura, Mackmyra, and Scotch Malt Whisky Society. However, the full line-up for the event is yet to be announced.
Each exhibitor will bring with them a range of whiskies and guest spirits, all of which will be available to try and are included in the ticket price. This whisky tasting experience will also be accompanied by a programme of award-winning mixology, local food vendors, an array of live musicians, and much more.
Tickets are only available to those over 18. Under-25 tickets are priced at £25 and standard tickets are priced at £37.50. Organisers recommend advance booking to avoid any disappointment. Tickets are available for purchase on the official website.
